The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced new regulations for the FASTag electronic tolling system, effective from today, 1st August.

FASTags that are older than five years must be replaced. The new rules require complete replacement to ensure compatibility with updated systems.

Owners with FASTags issued three years ago must update their Know Your Customer (KYC) information by 31st October to meet the new standards.

All FASTags must be linked to the vehicle’s registration number and chassis (VIN) number to ensure accurate identification and processing.

New vehicle owners have 90 days from the purchase date to link their FASTags to the vehicle’s registration and chassis number as per the new guidelines.

FASTag providers must verify and update their database with accurate vehicle information, including clear photographs of the vehicle's front and side profiles.

Each FASTag must be connected to a mobile number to facilitate better communication and ensure the smooth functioning of the system.

Providers must collect comprehensive data, ensuring all necessary information is accurately recorded and maintained in their databases.

Non-compliance with the new FASTag norms could lead to delays and difficulties at toll plazas, with the risk of the tag being suspended.
