Canadian Swimmer Summer McIntosh Breaks Olympic Record To Win Second Gold Medal In Paris

Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh bagged a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

She won the 200m butterfly event in Paris on Thursday.

It is the same event in which her mother Jill Horstead had participated over 40 years ago.

Horstead had represented Team Canada in Los Angeles in 1984.

McIntosh had already bagged gold in the 400m individual medley event in Paris.

She earned her second gold while setting an Olympic record with a time of 2:03.03.

The previous record was held by Chinese swimmer Zhang Yufei.

Yufei had clocked 2:03.86 at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

She ended up winning a bronze medal in Paris with 2:05.09.

The USA’s Regan Smith clinched a silver having clocked 2:03.84.
