7 Player Retention To Banning Players: SRH CEO Kavya Maran's Suggestions Ahead of IPL 2025

Kavya Maran, the CEO of Sunrisers Hyderabad suggested some changes in the retention policy of IPL at the BCCI's IPL franchise meet on Wed (July 31).

As per her, the IPL franchises should be allowed to retain at least seven players, with no category specifications.

The retained players can be overseas ones or Indians or even uncapped players, suggested the SRH CEO.

She also wants the franchises to be allowed to discuss with a particular player if he wants to be retained before the auction or via RTM card in auction.

As per her, the mega-auction should be held every five years and the 2025 auction should just be a mini-auction.

SRH thinks that the franchises should be allowed to negotiate the retention amount with the players instead of ranking them in fixed slabs.

Kavya Maran has also called for a ban on players who fail to show up in the IPL after enrolling themselves at the auction.

Her remark is most likely based on Wanindu Hasaranga's missing the 2024 edition of IPL after SRH spent crores to get the SL all-rounder on board.
