American Swimmer Bobby Finke Breaks 12-Year-Old Record At Paris Olympics

American Swimmer Bobby Finke won a gold medal in men’s 1,500m freestyle at Paris Olympics.

With this, he succeeded in defending the Olympic title in the men’s 1,500m freestyle category.

Finke set a new world record of 14 minutes, 30.67 seconds to clinch gold at La Defense Arena.

He surpassed Sun Yang’s 12-year-old record of 14:31.02.

Yang had scripted the previous record at the London Olympics in 2012.

Finke had claimed gold medals in both 1,500m and 800m freestyle at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

He led from the very beginning to finish his competition this time in Paris.

Finke became the first male swimmer to go back-to-back in the 30-lap event since Grant Hackett in 2000-04.

Italy’s Gregorio Paltrinieri bagged a silver medal finishing 3.88 seconds behind Finke.

Ireland’s 800m gold medallist Daniel Wiffen won the  bronze medal.
