Arshad Nadeem Sets Olympic Record To Beat Neeraj Chopra In Paris

Arshad Nadeem has won the first Olympic gold medal for Pakistan in athletics.

The ace javelin thrower set an Olympic record in Paris with a 92.97m throw.

India’s Neeraj Chopra settled for silver with his season-best throw of 89.45m.

Grenada’s Anderson Peters took the bronze medal with an 88.54m hit.

Nadeem’s gold was also the first Olympic medal for Pakistan in 32 years.

He is the first javelin thrower to breach the 90m mark twice in the Olympic final.

Nadeem finished second in the last World Championships with an 87.82m throw.

He first breached the 90m mark at the 2022 CWG to clinch the gold medal.

Nadeem finished fifth at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics final.

The 27-year-old secured the Asian Games bronze with an 80.75m throw in 2018.
