Additionally, Belgium’s Nafissatou Thiam became the first woman to win three consecutive heptathlon gold medals

Sha’Carri Richardson made up for missing out on women’s 100m gold by powering USA to triumph in the 4x100m relay

Spain, meanwhile, defeated hosts France in a thrilling, eight-goal men’s football final to take home the gold medal

Friday also witnessed the Olympic debut of ‘breaking’, with Japanese B-Girl Ami becoming the first-ever medallist
