Sifan Hassan Sets Olympic Record In Marathon

Sifan Hassan set a record in the women’s marathon at the Paris Olympics on Sunday.

The Dutch athlete crossed the finish line in a record-breaking time to clinch a gold medal.

Sifan completed her race in two hours, 22 minutes and 55 seconds.

Hassan had won bronze medals in the 5,000 and 10,000 metres at the Olympics 2024 earlier this week.

With this, the 31-year-old set a remarkable Olympic record.

She became the first athlete to win a medal in three distance events after Emil Zatopek.

The Czech runner had bagged 3 gold medals at 1952 Helsinki Games.

Hassan is the first woman to achieve this feat in Olympic history.

Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa won the silver medal having clocked 2:22:58 in the women's marathon.

Kenya’s Hellen Obiri secured bronze with 2:23:10 timing.
