Don’t want your tulsi plant to die? Follow these 8 simple tips

Opt for a sunny spot Make sure to place the plant in a sunny spot on your balcony or home garden. Tulsi grows well in full sunlight. Be mindful that the soil does not waterlog as it can spoil the growth.

Consider pot size Adjust the amount of water based on the pot size to ensure that the plant receives adequate hydration. This tailored approach helps maintain a healthy balance for the plant.

Add fresh soil To keep your plant healthy, make sure to mix in fresh soil regularly. Adding fresh soil helps the roots get the oxygen they need, keeping the plant in good shape.

Avoid picking too many leaves Tulsi leaves are used for various medicinal and religious purposes. Plucking too many leaves can dry up the plant and also make it rot.

Prune the plant Regularly prune the plant to encourage bushy growth and prevent it from becoming leggy. Pinch off the tips of the stems and remove yellow wilted leaves.

Cover the plant at night Tulsi plants are sensitive to cold. Thus, it is advisable to either bring it inside the house or cover it with a cloth during the colder months.

Use liquid fertiliser It is important to provide the plant with a balanced liquid fertiliser once a month during the growing season, particularly spring and summer. Also, avoid over-fertilising the plant as it can kill the plant.

Mulching In this, the top layer of the soil is covered with mulches to preserve moisture and keep the soil well-drained during summers. Mulch includes dry leaves, grass clippings and straw among others.
