NIRF Ranking 2024: Check out the list of the top 10 institutes in India

IIT Madras The institution has been awarded the top position, a record sixth time in a row. It has been at the top in both the ‘overall’ and ‘engineering’ category. It has ranked first in the engineering category every year since the inception of the rankings in 2016.

IISc Bengaluru Maintaining the order of the previous year, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru has secured the second position among universities in the NIRF rankings 2024. This is the only institute on the list that is not an IIT.

IIT Bombay This institute has secured the third position in the NIRF Rankings. It has been ranked fourth in the research institutions, third among engineering colleges and 10th among management schools.

IIT Delhi Ranked as fourth in the overall category of the NIRF, this institute offers a wide range of courses. It has been ranked third among research institutions, second among engineering colleges and fourth among management schools in India by the NIRF 2024. 

IIT Kanpur This is ranked fifth among the institutions in the latest edition of the NIRF rankings. IIT Kanpur was the first institute to offer studies in computer science beginning in 1963. It has ranked first in Innovation Category, sixth in research institutions, fourth among engineering colleges and 23rd among management schools. 

IIT Kharagpur This has been ranked as the sixth institute on the list. IIT Kharagpur was the first of the IITs to be established and is recognised as an Institute of National Importance. 

AIIMS Delhi The AIIMS Delhi has been ranked as the seventh-best institute in the NIRF Rankings. This is one of the few universities on the list that is not an IIT. It has been ranked first in the medical category this year.

IIT Roorkee This has been ranked as the eighth-best institute. It is the oldest engineering institution in India. The institution has 22 academic departments covering Engineering, Applied Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences and Management programs.

IIT Guwahati Ranked ninth in the list of best institutes, it has held the same position for the second year in a row. It was the sixth Indian Institute of Technology established in India.

JNU  Delhi The Jawaharlal Nehru University is among the three universities not to be an IIT on the list. It has acquired the tenth position in the overall category. JNU was ranked second among all universities in India in 2022.
