Ahead of Independence Day on August 15, here's a reminder on the dos and don'ts of using the Indian national flag.

The National Flag of India shall be made of handspun and handwoven wool/cotton/silk khaadi bunting.  The ratio of the length to the height of the flag should be 3:2.

The flag shall not be used as a drapery in any form whatsoever, including private funerals.

It shall not be used as portion of costume or uniform of any description nor shall it be printed on cushions, handkerchiefs, napkins or any dress material.

It shall not be allowed to touch the ground or the floor or trail in water.

The flag cannot be displayed with the saffron band at the bottom, even if done unintentionally.

The national flag shall not be draped over any vehicle. It shall not be used to cover any building.
