10 animals that can survive without food for months

Camels Camels have fat that stores water in them and helps them to survive without water for around 40 days. This can also help them to survive without water in extreme conditions.

Snakes Snakes are interesting creatures. Their metabolism reduces by 70 per cent in cold weather which can help them to live without food for close to a year. Meanwhile, their energy demands are also reduced during winter.

Frogs Mainly found in wet habitats, frogs can go up to years without food as they hibernate in a protective mucus cocoon.

Penguins Penguins are mainly found in colder regions like the Antarctic region and the Arctic Circle. In extreme weather conditions, they can live up to four months without food while they breed and incubate eggs.

Galapagos tortoises These tortoises have a slow metabolism due to their large internal storage for water. This helps them to survive without food for over a year.

Sharks Sharks can live without food for eight-10 weeks. Interestingly, the longer they live without food, the more perfect their hunting skills become.
