IP rating stands for water and dust resistance of the device. It consists of two digits, such as 6 and 8. The first digit signifies protection from dust and particles, with a maximum score of 6 on a scale of 0 to 6. The second digit signifies water resistance, measured on a scale of 0 to 8. A rating of 8 indicates that the device can be immersed in water for up to 30 minutes at a depth of over 1 meter.
