Several athletes have participated in the Olympics and later shifted to Paralympics due to suffering tragic accidents or other reasons. Here are 7 of them.

Bruna Alexandre

The table tennis player will be the first Brazilian Paralympic athlete to compete in both the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympic Games.

Melissa Tapper

The Australian para table tennis player competed in the 2016 Olympics and Paralympic Games. She is also to repeat the feat in Paris 2024.

Pal Szekeres

The Hungarian fencer won bronze at Seoul 1988 Olympics and later won three gold and three bronze in Para fencing across 5 Paralympic Games.

Zahra Nemati

She competed in both the 2016 Olympics and Paralympic Games. She was a taekwondo player before facing an accident and later took on archery.

Natalia Partyka

Polish table tennis player and six-time Paralympic champion, Partyka, competed at both Games for four consecutive editions, starting with Beijing 2008.

Pepo Puch

The Croatian five-time Paralympic medallist participated in the 2004 Olympics and later in London Paralympics 2012, where he won a gold and a bronze.

Natalie du Toit
