Spicy and flavourful, South Indian-style masala bread toast is commonly served at Iyengar bakeries. Try this South Indian masala bread toast recipe at home.

Ingredients Oil - 2 tsp Mustard seeds - 3/4 tsp Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp Green chilli (finely chopped) - 2 Ginger (finely chopped) - 1 inch Onion (finely chopped) - 1/2 Tomato (finely chopped) - 1 Carrot (grated) - 1 Cabbage (shredded) - 3/4 cup Capsicum (finely chopped) - 1/4 Turmeric - 1/4 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp Garam masala - 1/2 tsp Cumin powder - 1/4 tsp Chaat masala - 1/2 tsp Salt - 1/2 tsp Tomato sauce - 2 tbsp Coriander leaves (finely chopped) - 2 tbsp Bread slices - 4 Butter - For toasting

Step 1 Heat oil in a kadhai and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, green chillies, and ginger. Add onion and let it cook.

Step 2 Add tomatoes and cook until they are mushy. Add carrot, cabbage, and capsicum. Add turmeric, Kashmiri red chilli powder, garam masala, cumin powder, and chaat masala, and cook the veggies. Add some tomato sauce and coriander leaves and mix it well.

Step 3 The topping is ready, now, grease a tawa and toast bread slices from both sides.

Step 4 Place the prepared bread toast on a serving plate. Spread two tablespoons of prepared topping over the bread slices and serve.
