ENG vs SL Test: 7 Records Joe Root Broke During The Series

Joe Root recorded the most (34) Test centuries for England as he took his side nearer to a series victory over Sri Lanka at Lord’s on Saturday.

Root’s 103, his second hundred of the match, moved him into the joint sixth-place in the all-time list of Test century-makers.

His second century of the ongoing Test helped him become the first English batter to score 50 centuries in international cricket.

With his 2022 runs, he broke Graham Gooch’s record of 2015 runs to become the all-time leading run scorer in Test matches played at Lord’s.

With his two tons, Joe Root became the first batter in history to score seven Test centuries at the Home of Cricket.

Root is now the highest run-scorer for England against Sri Lanka. With his 1351 runs (in 12 matches), he broke Alastair Cook’s record of 1290 runs.

He also became the first English and fourth player overall to take 200 catches in Tests, with his catches of Nishan Madushka and Pathum Nissanka.

With his 62* in the 1st Test vs SL, Root became the third-most Test fifty-scorer in all-time list. He has 64 Test fifties to his name.
