Only 6 countries operate nuclear submarines; check India’s convoy

India is set to commission its third nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine soon, further strengthening the sea-based component of its nuclear triad, as reported by the media.

India's second nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, INS Arighaat, was commissioned into the Navy on August 29, 2024, in a ceremony attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

As of 2024, only six countries, including India, operate nuclear submarines, according to Statista. Here’s a look at the global nuclear submarine fleet:
