Key moments involving Indian athletes on Day 8 of Paris Paralympics

The highlight of Day 8 was Kapil Parmar winning a historic bronze in the men's 60kg J1 category of judo after defeating Brazil's Elielton de Oliveira

Parmar, who had suffered a near-fatal electrocution during his childhood, thus became the first Indian judoka to win a Paralympic medal

Parmar wasn't the only Indian judoka in action though, with Kokila Kaushiklate reaching the women's 48kg quarter-finals before suffering back-to-back defeats, including in the repechage round

In archery, the pair of Pooja Jatyan and Harvinder Singh narrowly missed out on a mixed team recurve medal after losing the shoot-off against Slovania in the bronze playoff

Also narrowly missing out on a medal was Simran Sharma, who finished fourth in the women's 100m T12 final with a timing of 12.31 seconds

A season-best throw of 13.01 metres was not enough for Arvind Malik in the men's shot put F35 final, resulting in a sixth-place finish for the Indian

Also finishing sixth was Ashok Malik, who lifted a maximum weight of 199kg in the men's para-powerlifting up to 65 kg final
