China to raise retirement age – Top nations where people work the longest

For men, the retirement age will be raised from 60 to 63 years. For women, it will increase from 50 to 55 years for those in blue-collar jobs and from 55 to 58 years for those in white-collar jobs. Take a look at other countries with high retirement ages as of August 2024:

Retirement age is currently 67 for men and women

Italy, Australia, Netherlands, Greece, Denmark, Iceland

Retirement age is currently 67 for men and 63 for women

Israel

In the US, while a person born before 1955 can retire with social security benefits at the age of 66, those born after 1959 must be 67. Each year between 1955 and 1959 adds 2 months.

United States

Retirement age is currently 66.5 for men and women

Spain

Retirement age is currently 66.33 for men and women

Portugal

Retirement age is currently 66 for men and women

Germany, United Kingdom, Ireland

Retirement age is currently 65.5 for men and women

Cyprus

Retirement age is currently 65 for men and 62 for women

Brazil

Retirement age is currently 65 for men and women
