PM Modi To Attend Bastille Day in France

Bastille Day, also known as French National Day or La Fête Nationale, is a significant holiday in France celebrated on July 14th each year.

This year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the Guest of Honour at the celebrations. The Tri-services contingent from India, including the Indian Air Force aircraft, will participate.

Bastille Day commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison on July 14, 1789, during the French Revolution.

The event marked a turning point in the revolution and is seen as a symbol of the struggle for liberty and the end of the monarchy.

The Bastille was a fortress and political prison in Paris.

Its storming by a mob seeking weapons and ammunition represented the defiance of the monarchy and the uprising of the people against oppressive rule.

Bastille Day is seen as a celebration of liberty, equality, and fraternity—the core values of the French Republic.

It represents the triumph of the French Revolution and the birth of modern France.

One of the highlights of Bastille Day is the grand military parade held in Paris. Fireworks are also an integral part of Bastille Day celebrations.
