Origin Story

The Tirupati Laddu was granted a Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2009, protecting its unique preparation method and heritage.

Exclusive GI Tag 

This sacred laddu is made using high-quality ingredients like gram flour, sugar, ghee, cashews, and raisins, which are sourced exclusively for the temple.

Special Ingredients

Around 3 lakh laddus are prepared daily in the temple’s special kitchen called ‘Potu’. The process involves traditional techniques and dedicated temple staff.

Massive Production

Only the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) can make and sell the laddus. Any unauthorised selling outside the temple premises is illegal.

Strict Regulations

The Tirupati Laddu is sold at a subsidised price of Rs. 50 for devotees. This is made possible through donations and strict cost management by TTD.

Affordable Price

Devotees often use these laddus as offerings during various religious ceremonies. It’s also customary to share them with friends and family after visiting the temple.
