Singapore has beaten Japan to become the most powerful passport in the world in 2023. People with a Singapore passport can visit 192 countries without a visa.
India has climbed up the ranks to the 80th spot. Those who hold an Indian passport can enter 57 countries visa free or get visa on arrival.
With visa-free access to 190 countries, Germany, Italy, and Spain have all risen to second place.
Japan, which held the top slot for five years, has fallen to third place with visa-free travel to 189 countries. It is joined as the third most powerful passport with South Korea, Austria, Finland, France, Luxembourg, and Sweden.
The UK has risen two places in the latest rating to fourth place, a spot it last held in 2017.It is joined on the list by Denmark, Ireland, and the Netherlands.
Czech Republic, Malta, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, and Switzerland are ranked fifth. These countries allow visa-free travel to 187 countries.
Afghanistan remains entrenched at the bottom of the Henley Passport Index, with a visa-free access score of just 27 countries.
Other countries at the bottom of the list include Iraq, which has access to 29 destinations, and Syria, which has 30.
