The actor went through a lot of research and extensive diet for his role in the film

His co-star Emily Blunt revealed he only ate one almond per day to get into the physicality of the role

Murphy said, "Oppenheimer had a very distinct physicality and silhouette that I wanted to get right."

He added, "I had to lose a lot of weight, and we worked with the costume and tailoring."

The actor also said, "He was extremely thin, almost emaciated, and lived on martinis and cigarettes."

In another interview, Murphy said, "I went over a threshold where I wasn't worrying about food or anything."
