In one of the biggest seizures of Smuggled Gold in recent past, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 394 pieces of foreign origin gold bars.
The gold bars approximately weighed 65.46 kg & valued at Rs. 33.40 crore.
“Op Gold Rush” was launched by DRI & a particular consignment declared to contain ‘Personal Goods’ destined to Mumbai was intercepted.
Examination of the consignment at Bhiwandi on Sept 19 led to recovery & seizure of 120 pieces of foreign origin gold biscuits weighing approx 19.93 kg& valued at about Rs. 10.18 crore.
2nd consignment was located & intercepted in Bihar. Upon examination, it led to recovery of 172 foreign origin gold bars weighing approx 28.57 kg & valued at about Rs.14.50 crore.
3rd consignment was intercepted & examined at the Delhi hub of the logistics company which led to recovery & seizure of 102 pieces of foreign origin gold bars weighing approx 16.96 kg & valued at about Rs. 8.69 crore.
