Skygazers around the globe are in for a celestial feast, as the month of August will witness not just one, but two mesmerising Supermoons illuminating the night skies. Here’s a look at other celestial events this month.
The Sturgeon Moon, the first full moon of August, will reach its peak at 2:32 pm EDT on August 1.
The Sturgeon supermoon will be visble in India on August 2 & reach its peak at 12:02 am IST
The Perseids meteor shower will grace the skies from July 14 to September 1, with the most spectacular nights for stargazing falling on August 12-13.
As per the American Meteor Society, the meteor shower is anticipated to produce an impressive rate of 50-75 meteors per hour from rural areas during its peak time.
On August 27, Saturn, the solar system's second-largest planet, will be on full display, revealing its iconic rings and a glimpse of its impressive collection of 83 moons.
On August 30, the second full moon, known as blue moon, reaches its peak at 9:36 pm. EDT
It will be an extraordinary sight as blue moon will be the biggest full moon in 2023, coming closest to Earth of any full moon this year.
