7 Times India Played Sri Lanka in Asia Cup Finals

Despite a jittery start to their Asia Cup 2023 campaign, India became the first team to qualify for the tournament's final.

The Rohit Sharma-led side will face Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 final on September 17 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Sri Lanka recorded a thrilling victory against Pakistan to secure their spot to play their 8th Asia Cup final against India.

The two teams faced each other in the Asia Cup final for the first time in 1988. India secured a win after Navjot Singh Sidhu's 76-run innings.

India lifted the Asia Cup trophy once again in 1991 after defeating Sri Lanka in the final by 7 wickets.

In the 1995 Asia Cup final, India won again. Banking on its top-order, India sealed the game with a 8-wicket victory.

The tables finally turned in the Asia Cup 1997 final. Sri Lanka, after three attempts, triumphed over India to secure their second title.

In the next edition of the tournament in 2004, the two teams were in the finals once again. Defending 228 runs, Sri Lanka secured a 25-run win.

Indian batters failed to read mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis in the 2008 final. Mendis picked 6 wickets and Sri Lanka won by 100 runs.

After a hattrick of wins, Sri Lanka failed to replicate their performance in 2010.  Chasing India's 268, the Lankans were bowled out at 187.
