10 Tips to Grow Hibiscus

Planting Location

Hibiscus prefers full sun, so choose a spot in your garden where it will receive at least 6-8 hours of sunlight daily.

1

Well-Drained Soil

Ensure the soil is well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral, and rich in organic matter.

2

Proper Planting Depth

Plant hibiscus at the same depth it was in the nursery container.

3

Watering

Keep the soil moist, but not waterlogged. Water deeply and regularly, especially during dry spells.

4

Mulching

Apply mulch around the base of the plant to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature.

5

Fertilization

Hibiscus benefits from regular feeding during the growing season. Use a balanced, slow-release fertilizer.

6

Pruning

Prune to  remove dead or diseased branches. Pinch the tips of young plants to encourage bushier growth.

7

Pest and Disease Control

Keep an eye out for common pests. Treat promptly if infestations occur.

8

Support

Some varieties of hibiscus may need staking or support, especially if they grow tall or have heavy flowers.

9

Winter Care

In cooler climates, hibiscus can be grown in pots and brought indoors during winter. Provide adequate light in that case.
