Google Pixel Might Crush Samsung With 7 Years of OS Updates

Samsung raised the bar for Android smartphones by promising 4 years of Android OS updates and 5 years of security updates for its high-end and mid-range phones.

Google is planning even more extended software support, potentially offering 7 years of updates for the Pixel 8 series.

This extended support may not mean 7 Android OS updates, possibly 5 OS updates and 7 years of security updates.

Google aims to start this with the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, launching next month with Android 14.

They could potentially receive updates extending up to Android 21. However nothing is for certain now.

If true, Samsung might need to match Google's 7-year support to stay competitive and maintain their reputation.

The upcoming Pixel phones are expected to offer impressive features. The Pixel 8 reportedly features a 6.2 inch and the Pixel 8 Pro a 6.7 inch OLED screen with HDR.

Pixel 8 could include a 50MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10.5MP front-facing camera with autofocus.

With stunning specifications and Google's extended update support, the Android smartphone landscape could be reshaped.
