Dr. Robert Califf, the current head of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in an exclusive interview with CNBC-TV18, revealed that, at the age of 72, he relies on four generic drugs that likely come from India.
Marking his first interaction with the Indian media, he emphasised the crucial role India plays in the US generic drug supply chain. Here are top 5 takeaways from USFDA Chief:
Data integrity in a lot of the Indian companies have come up to a standard. Top down management, cultural issues have improved.
Recent issues in India has strengthened the idea that there should be one standard for all. There is no reason why there should be no digital access to the entire supply chain.
A mixture of announced & unannounced inspections is important. Will see more unannounced inspections in India.
Need the reliance that we have on China to be distributed all around the world. India will be a dominant part of planning the resilience of supply chains.
Relationship with India is long standing. India & US are powerful economies with strengths which match.
