Indri named the world's best whisky

Hic, Hic, Hurray!

A Made-in-India whisky has been crowned as the best brand in the world by Whiskies of the World.

The Indri Diwali Collector’s Edition 2023 won the title of the ‘Best in Show’ Double Gold award in one of the largest whisky-tasting competitions in the world in Dubai.

The Indian peated class whisky defeated hundreds of international brands that include American single malts, Scotch whiskies, Bourbons, Canadian whiskies, Australian single malts, and British single malts.

Indri whisky is produced by Piccadily Distilleries in Haryana. It's a type of peated Indian single malt whisky, known for its smoky flavour.

Peated whiskies get their smoky taste from drying malted barley using peat fires. The strength of the smoky flavour depends on the length and intensity of the peat smoke.

Indri whisky is made from six-row barley and distilled in traditional Indian copper pot stills. It offers flavours like smoke, candied dried fruits, toasted nuts, spices, oak, and bittersweet chocolate.

Starting from November 2023, Indri whisky will be available in the United States and some European countries. Currently, it's already accessible in 19 states in India and 17 other countries.

When it comes to pricing, based on prior price ranges of whiskies released by the same brand, it can be assumed that this one would start around Rs 5,000 and go up from there.

Indri's Single Malt Trini had previously won the Tokyo Whisky and Spirits Competition 2023, the Fifty Best World Whiskies 2022 Award, the International Whisky Competition in Las Vegas, and was listed among the Whisky Advocate Top 20 Whiskies of the World.
