Mercedes-Benz India has launched its flagship four-door coupe, the AMG GT 63 S E-Performance for Rs 3.3 crore (ex-showroom).

The 4-door coupe is not only the first plug-in hybrid but also the most powerful production vehicle yet from Mercedes-AMG.

German luxury carmaker also said that all GT 63 S E Performance customers will get their keys handed to them from seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton.

Mercedes AMG GT 63 S E-Performance, in terms of performance, rivals just one direct competitor in India the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, which costs Rs 2.76 crore (ex-showroom).

In terms of looks, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E-Performance is a big, brawny four-door car with a long bonnet and a swooping roofline.

Exterior and interior details

The car has an aggressive AMG face, a sleek rear fascia with slim LED headlights and a retractable spoiler. The flared wheel arches house massive dual-tone alloy wheels.

Inside, the AMG GT 63 S E-Performance comes with the brand's latest 3-spoke steering wheel and a dual-screen setup featuring two 12.3-inch displays.

Besides the AMG-specific steering wheel, it also gets sports seats and sportier interior trim.

Powertrain details

The AMG GT 63 S E Performance is based on the standard GT 63 S 4-door coupe and gets the 639hp, twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine.

The car is equipped with a 6.1 kWh battery, which enables it to run in pure-EV mode for 12 km at up to 130 km/h. The total combined output is 831 BHP and 1,470 Nm.

With this output, the AMG GT 63 S E Performance can accelerate from 0-100kph in a claimed 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of 316kph.

The AMG GT 63 S E Performance also comes with seven drive modes and four levels of regenerative braking.

The company recently launched a fully equipped AMG Edition 1 that will be available for a limited period in select markets.
