Shubman Gill Doubtful For India’s World Cup Opener

Gill might miss the game against Australia on October 8 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

The batting sensation has reportedly tested positive for dengue.

This could lead to captain Rohit Sharma opening India’s innings alongside KL Rahul or Ishan Kishan.

Gill has represented India in 20 ODIs in 2023, which is more than any other batter in the squad.

The star batter has also scored the most runs with a total of 1230.

His impressive haul includes 5 centuries and 5 half-centuries.

Gill smashed 139 ODIs boundaries in 2023, which is 79 more than the second-placed Rohit Sharma.

He boasts an incredible average of 72.35 runs and a strike rate of 105.03 in his 20 innings.

His best ODI performance came in January against New Zealand when he scored  208 runs.

It seems Gill will have to wait longer for his World Cup debut.
