Worldline, a French payment & transactional services firm released data listing the top Indian cities with highest digital transactions in 2022.

As per the data, India’s total digital transactions in 2022 amounted to Rs 149.5 lakh crore.

The online space, e-commerce (shopping for goods & services), gaming, utility, & financial services accounted for more than 85% of transactions by volume & 25% by value.

Frequently visited physical merchant categories, including grocery stores, restaurants, clothing, pharmacy, hotels, etc. collectively made up more than 43% of transaction volume & about 40% of transaction value.

Education, travel, & hospitality sectors contributed the remaining 15% by volume & 75% by value. Here’s a look at the cities that topped the list.

Bengaluru topped the list with digital transactions accounting for 29 million transactions worth Rs 6,500 crore.

New Delhi was second with 19.6 million transactions amounting to Rs 5,000 crore.

Mumbai ranked third with 18.7 million transactions amounting to Rs 4,950 crore.

Pune is on the fourth spot with 15 million transactions amounting to Rs 3,280 crore.

Ranking fifth, Chennai saw 14.3 million transactions amounting to Rs 3,550 crore.
