Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2023: 9 big BJP names to watch out for

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will contest again from his traditional seat of Budhni, amid rumours that the BJP is looking for a successor after PM Narendra Modi has been observed avoiding taking his name in rallies.

The BJP has fielded the state's home minister Dr Narottam Mishra from the Datia constituency, a seat in northcentral Madhya Pradesh that he has won thrice.

The BJP national general secretary and senior Madhya Pradesh politician Kailash Vijayvargiya will run for the Indore 1 Assembly seat.

Another BJP heavyweight to run in the polls is Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar. He is anticipated to mediate any conflicts that may develop between BJP stalwarts and Scindia supporters.

Prahlad Singh Patel is another surprise Union minister running in the MP elections. Patel, a five-time MP, is going to contest from Jalam Singh Patel’s seat, Narsinghpur, in an attempt to consolidate Lodhi community.

Union Minister Faggan Singh Kulaste is the BJP's contender for the Niwas assembly seat in Mandla district. Kulaste is a well-known tribal leader in the BJP and is seen by some as a possible candidate for chief minister's post.

Dr Prabhuram Choudhary, the state health minister and a Jyotiraditya Scindia supporter, has been fielded from Sanchi, a popular Buddhist tourist destination in Madhya Pradesh.

Gopal Bhargava, state’s public works minister who also handles the cottage and rural industries sectors, will run from Rehli in Sagar district. He has held the seat since 1985 and has served as a state minister since 2003.

Former state BJP president and four term MP Rakesh Singh will be contesting from Jabalpur Paschim.
