From Operation Ajay to Kuwait Airlift, India's evacuation missions

Operation Ajay Over 200 Indians were repatriated from Israel on a special chartered jet as part of Operation Ajay on Friday morning.

Operation Kaveri The Indian government conducted this expedition to rescue individuals following the fighting in Sudan between the army and paramilitary forces. This mission evacuated approximately 3,000 peoples.

Operation Dost India undertook this effort in the aftermath of the disastrous earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria earlier this year.

Operation Ganga It was a mission launched by the Indian government in February 2022 to bring back Indian citizens stuck in the Russia-Ukraine war. Over 22,000 nationals were ferried home safely in precarious conditions.

Vande Bharat The Modi government started the Vande Bharat Mission to repatriate back Indians who had been stranded overseas due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Operation Sankat Mochan It refers to India's mission in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that rocked Nepal in 2015.

Operation Safe Homecoming The government initiated this operation to evacuate its residents from the Libyan Civil War in 2011.

Operation Sukoon Operation 'Sukoon' was launched by India to evacuate its nationals after the 2006 military unrest between Israel and Lebanon.

Kuwait Airlift The airlift of Indians from Kuwait in 1990 was one of the country's largest evacuations. After Iraqi forces invaded Kuwait in August, the operation was carried out between August and October. Approximately 175,000 Indians were evacuated.
