Navratri 2023: Celebration in different Indian cities

Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Surat: Gujarat is famous for its lively and exuberant Garba and Dandiya Raas dances during Navratri. People dress in traditional attire and gather in large groups to dance to the rhythm of folk music

Kolkata: In West Bengal, Navratri coincides with Durga Puja, a major festival in the region. Intricately crafted idols of Goddess Durga are worshiped in beautifully decorated pandals (temporary structures)

Delhi: In Delhi, various Dandiya and Garba events take place at community centers, temples, and cultural venues. People from different parts of the city come together to participate in the dance festivities

Mumbai: Mumbai, especially in areas like Borivali and Vile Parle, hosts numerous Garba and Dandiya events.

Kerala:  In some parts of Kerala, especially among the Saraswat Brahmin community, the Saraswati Puja is celebrated during Navratri

Himachal Pradesh: In the Kullu Valley, the festival of Navratri is celebrated with grand processions, cultural events, and fairs

North-East India: In Assam and Manipur, Durga Puja is celebrated, similar to West Bengal, with elaborate pandals and cultural festivities

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh): Varanasi, one of the oldest cities in India, observes Navratri with various religious and cultural events, including the performance of classical music and dance
