India’s most loved and usually the most ordered food item, biryani, in a rare instance, was not what Indian households wanted to order.
On October 14, when India took on Pakistan in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, burgers was the most ordered item on the online food delivery platform Swiggy, reported Moneycontrol.com.
The platform recorded a 1,100% increase in orders for veg burgers compared to a regular Saturday.
Despite having a lower base compared to pizzas, veg burgers were still the most ordered items on the platform, Moneycontrol.com quoted the food delivery giant.
The other items that topped the most ordered list are veg pizzas, crispy chicken burgers, veg tacos, and choco lava cakes, according to Swiggy.
Cloud kitchen Curefoods witnessed over 40% increase in orders during the game, while the total items ordered grew by 100%.
"Curefoods generally does 50,000 orders a day. On October 14, we clocked 70,000 orders. The items per order, which generally trends at two items per order, jumped to three," Moneycontrol.com quoted Ankit Nagori, founder of Curefoods.
Pizzas, biryanis, and khichdis were the most ordered items on Curefoods.
