For a decade Carolina Reaper was the world’s hottest chilli pepper. Now it has been dethroned by a hot new chilli, Pepper X.

Pepper X was declared the world's spiciest chilli pepper by Guinness World Records due to its remarkable Scoville rating of 2.69 million units.

Grown by Puckerbutt Pepper Company (USA) founder Ed Currie, who also created the Carolina Reaper, Pepper X is a result of crossbreeding some of his spiciest peppers to boost the capsaicin levels.
