As per the Election Commission (EC), Mizoram's 2023 Assembly election will be held on November 7, Tuesday, in a single phase.
The eligible voters of the state will vote to elect 40 members of the state's Legislative Assembly.
Mizo National Front (MNF) is hopeful of retaining its reign, while Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), BJP, Congress, AAP are all planning to dethrone MNF.
The vote counting will be done on December 3 (Sunday), along with that of the other 4 states - Rajasthan, MP, Chattisgarh and Telengana.
In the 2018 Assembly election, MNC won with 26 seats. The Congress managed just 5 seats, while the ZPM became the second-largest party with 8 seats.

The ruling MNF, ZPM and Congress have fielded 40 nominees each. AAP revealed 4 candidates and BJP is yet to announce the names.
CM Zoramthanga is contesting from Aizawl East-I, Deputy CM Tawnluia from Tuichang, and Health and Education Minister, Dr R Lalthangliana from South Tuipui.
Congress fielded Pu Lalsanglura Ralte, a first timer against heavyweight Zoramthanga in the Aizawl East-I seat.
ZPM’s CM candidate, Lalduhoma is contesting from his home turf Serchhip. Lalthansanga (Chatea) is fielded in the Aizawl East – 1.
AAP has released only candidates of Aizawl constituency. Its state President, Andrew Lalremkima is fielded from Aizawl North III.
