Rescue officials were seen at the Uttarkashi mission work, with heavy machinaries.
They had to remove about 10 metres of debris, to reach 40 workers, who were trapped during the collapse of the under-construction Uttarkashi road tunnel, on Monday, Nov 20, 2023.
The rescuers tirelessly worked for almost about a week to get the trapped workers out of the tunnel safely.
Numerous ambulances were on standby at the entrance of the Silkyara Bend-Barkot Tunnel, during the Uttarkashi rescue operation.
A lot of security personnel were also present during the rescue operation of the workers trapped in the tunnel between Silkyara and Dandalgaon on the Brahmakhal-Yamunotri national highway.
International tunnelling expert, Arnold Dix was part of the rescue operation. He interacts with army personnels and even offered prayers during the ongoing mission.
Border Roads Organisation (BRO) officials prepared a road outside the Silkyara Bend-Barkot Tunnel during the Uttarkashi rescue mission.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the rescue mission process.
Overall, it was a great effort on the NDRF and other rescue teams' part, and the trapped workers were brought out of the tunnel safely.
The rescuers posed happily after the successful completion of a tough rescue mission.
