8 Tips to Care for Boston Ferns at Home

Producer:  Riya Ashok

Boston ferns prefer high humidity levels because they are native to humid climates.

Always keep the soil moist, but not soggy. When the top inch of the soil feels just a little bit dry, water.

Use a potting mix with a peat foundation that drains effectively. The best mixture is one made especially for ferns or tropical plants.

Every 4-6 weeks during the growing season, fertilise your Boston fern using a balanced, water-soluble fertiliser that has been diluted to half strength.

To promote new development and keep the plant looking good, frequently remove any browning or yellowing fronds.

Over time, Boston ferns may develop root rot.

Observe your indoor plants for typical pests like mealybugs and spider mites.

Reduce watering a little in the winter when the fern's growth slows.
