10 TIPS TO MAKE ROUND ROTI

Prepare the Dough

Start with soft and pliable dough. Use whole wheat flour (atta), water, and a pinch of salt to make a smooth dough.

1

Divide the Dough

Divide the dough into small, equal-sized portions. Rolling smaller portions is easier than working with a large piece of dough.

2

Shape into Balls

Roll each portion between your palms to make small, smooth balls. This helps in achieving a round shape later.

3

Flour Dusting

Lightly dust the rolling surface and the dough ball with flour. This prevents sticking and makes rolling easier.

4

Rolling Technique

Flatten the dough ball slightly with your fingers. Then, using a rolling pin, roll from the center outward, applying even pressure.

5

Even Thickness

Aim for an even thickness of the roti, as this ensures uniform cooking.

6

Use a Rolling Board

A wooden rolling board (chakla) is traditionally used for making roti. It provides a flat and even surface for rolling.

7

Practice Patting

After rolling a few times, you can practice gently patting the roti between your hands to help it take a round shape.

8

Press The Edges

Press the edges of the roti in a circular shape, to easily get the desired shape.

9

Flip & Cook Evenly

Flip the roti as soon as you see small bubbles forming, and press it gently with a cloth or spatula to encourage puffing.
