There are nine main candidates from the Republican party for the 2024 election. They are all hoping to be chosen as their party’s nominee for president.

There are several important events that will happen from now until Election Day. Here’s the key dates in the 2024 US presidential race: 

October 15, 2023

Federal Election Commission quarterly filing deadline for candidates to declare the money they have raised and spent.

November 8, 2023

Miami will host the third Republican debate. Participation criteria, tougher than the second debate, will include rules on opinion polling and fundraising.

January 15, 2024

Iowa Republicans hold the first caucuses of this election. In these private meetings, participants support candidates, determining delegate allocation.

January 23, 2024

New Hampshire may host the first Republican primary. Run by local governments, participants vote secretly for their preferred candidate.

January 31, 2024

First Democratic presidential primary, to be held in South Carolina.

February 6, 2024

Primaries held in Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Kansas and Ohio.
