This year's T20 World Cup was full of surprises. From Pakistan losing against USA to Afghanistan beating New Zealand by a massive margin, here are the biggest upsets of the tournament.
AUS vs AFG: Australia unexpectedly faced their first Super Eight defeat against Afghanistan on June 23. Rahmanullah Gurbaz's 60 and Gulbadin Naib's four-for helped thrash the Aussies by 21 runs.
NZ vs AFG: Afghanistan stunned once more previously by beating New Zealand for the first time in T20I on June 8. They registered a historic 84-run win after bundling NZ for just 75 in 15.2 overs.
PAK vs USA: USA got the better of Pakistan in Super Over. With Saurabh Netravalkar and Kenjige's terrific bowling, the co-hosts beat Pak during one of the initial league stage matches, on June 6.
CAN vs IRE: Associate Team Canada recorded their maiden T20 World Cup win in their June 7 match against full-member Ireland, defeating them by 12 runs. They defended 137 runs.
SCO vs NAM: Scotland won against Namibia in a T20I for the first time on June 7. Powered by skipper Richie Berrington's 47, they beat Namibia by 5 wickets, chasing down the 156-run target.
Overall, the T20 World Cup 2024 has been a thrilling ride, with some new teams like Uganda registering their maiden World Cup wins and some big shots like New Zealand struggling to find their mojo.
Finally, the four best teams- India, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan have qualified for the semi-finals and will lock horns on Thursday (June 27). The winners of the semis will move to the final showdown on Saturday.
