Goa is much more than beaches and nightclubs. Here are five forts that you must visit in Goa.
Fort Aguada
Located near Sinquerim beach, Fort Aguada was the main fort of the Portuguese.
Yeshwantgad Fort
It is also known as the Redi Fort. It was built by the Marathas in the 16th century.
Alorna Fort
Situated on the right bank of river Chapora, the fort was the 18th-century border between Goa and Bhonsles of Sawantwadi.
Fort Tiracol
It was built by the Maharaja of Sawantwadi and later revamped by the Portuguese in the 17th century. The fort has now been turned into a heritage hotel, the Fort Tiracol Heritage.
Chapora Fort
Located on Vagator Beach, the Chapora Fort offers an unobstructed view of the sea – namely three beaches, Vagator, Anjuna, and Chapora.
