Fruit chutneys are an excellent condiment. Here are five fruit chutney recipes you can try at home.
Chop tomatoes, apples, red onion, garlic, green chillies, and capsicum. Boil tomatoes in some water. Strain the cooked tomato and keep aside the purée. Heat some oil in a pan and add jeera, tomato purée, and other chopped veggies and fruits. Add salt, red chili powder, jaggery, salt and vinegar. Cook it on a low heat for a few minutes. Your chutney is ready, let it cool before storing it.
Peel and chop pineapple into chunks. Add it to a heated saucepan with some water and bring to a steady simmer. Boil it till the mixture is thick, fragrant, and caramel-coloured. Add salt and sugar according to your taste. You can add a tadka of red chilies, fenugreek seeds, turmeric, and cloves while serving.
Boil some water in a pan and blanch a cup of kumquats. Drain and repeat 3 times. Squeeze juice from kumquat. Finely dice the skin. Now, add diced kumquat, pineapple, lemon juice, brown sugar, orange juice, and kumquat juice. Boil it until thickened. Let it cool and preserve it in a sealed jar.
Heat canola oil in a pan and add fennel seeds, sugar, apple cider vinegar, cayenne powder, ground coriander, turmeric powder, and garam masala. Cook it for some time. Now, add diced apples and cook until they are tender. Transfer the mixture to a bowl to cool slightly.
Chop a raw mango and deseed it. Blend it with sugar, salt, cumin powder, chilli powder, and turmeric. Keep it in the sun for a few days. Stir off and on, till sugar dissolves and gets sticky. Your chutney will be ready after 5 to 6 days.
