5 Great MS Dhoni Captaincy Records

Producer: Peuli Bakshi

MS Dhoni has been one of the most successful captains of the Indian cricket team. Being being a skilled leader, he has also made record-making contributions to the team. Due to handling any given situation calmly, he is known as 'captain cool'.

MS Dhoni is the only Indian captain under whom the team has won all 3 ICC tournaments — 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup & 2013 Champions Trophy.

Dhoni has led the 'men in blue' in 2 ODI World Cups and been quite successful in both. In 2011, India recorded its second ever final victory and in 2015 India lost in the semi-final.

Thala led India in a total of 332 international matches, which is the most by any captain in the world.

Dhoni is the only Indian captain who has whitewashed the Australians on their soil. Dhoni led India to win the three-match series 3-0 in the 2016 T20I series.

MSD has the record for most sixes (204) in ODI cricket as a skipper. This includes many sixes in his trademark helicopter shots.

Besides being a successful captain, MS Dhoni has also been the Indian skipper who led India in ODIs for the longest period – 11 years (2007 to 2019).
