Junk foods are usually rich in sugar and fat which proves to be a major cause of the increase in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Additionally, they are just empty calories which affects the metabolic processes of the liver and causes fat accumulation and inflammation in the organ.
Junk food consumption is closely related to poor behaviour and cognitive functions in children such as inattention, mood swings, lack of concentration, and lack of interest in studies.
One who consumes a lot of junk food will experience the effects even beyond childhood. Some suffer from chronic diseases, such as heart disease, cancer, and cirrhosis of the liver, later in their lives.
