5 Traditional Recipes for Maha Shivratri Fasting

One of the biggest Hindu festivals, Maha Shivratri is almost here. It is believed that fasting on this day can help one achieve spiritual upliftment and inner peace. Here are some traditional recipes for Maha Shivratri fasting.

Sabudana khichdi

Made with sago pearls, peanuts, and potatoes, sabudana khichdi is a delicious and filling dish that is easy to digest. You can season it with cumin, black pepper, and other spices that are allowed in the fast.

Potato curry

Cooked with ginger, green chilies, and other permissible spices, it can be served with puri or kuttu ki roti.

Fruit salad

Choose your favourite fruits such as bananas, apples, pomegranates, and papayas, and mix them in a bowl. You can also add honey or lemon juice for added flavour.

Samvat rice

Samvat rice is easy to digest and can be made into a pulao or biryani with vegetables and spices that are permissible during the fast.

Sweet potato chaat

Boil sweet potatoes cut them into small cubes, and add lemon juice, black pepper, and rock salt to taste.
