Root scored 122 in the 2nd innings against the West Indies at Trent Bridge.

He has now become the eighth-highest run scorer (11,940) in Tests.

Sachin Tendulkar leads the chart with 15,921 runs in 200 matches.

Ricky Ponting takes 2nd place with 13,378 runs.

In 3rd position, we have Jacques Kallis with 13,289 runs in 166 matches.

Rahul Dravid comes next having scored 13,288 runs in 164 Tests.

England’s Alastair Cook follows Dravid with 12,472 runs from 161 matches.

Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara is at number 6 with  12,400 runs in 134 matches.

Brian Lara, who smashed 11,953 runs in 131 games, occupies the 7th position.
