Virat Kohli could become the Indian with the most runs in the Champions Trophy on March 2.
He needs 51 more runs against New Zealand to surpass Shikhar Dhawan’s tally of 701.
Scoring 142 runs will make Kohli the leading scorer in the ICC event’s history.
He has competed in 31 ODIs against the Black Caps, scoring 1645 runs.
If Kohli scores 106 more runs, he will become the Indian with the most ODI runs against New Zealand.
The veteran may also become the 1st batter to register 7 ODI centuries against the Kiwis.
A half-century will make him the 1st to score seven fifties in the Champions Trophy and 24 fifties in ICC ODI events.
Kohli needs 150 runs to surpass Kumar Sangakkara and become the 2nd leading scorer in ODIs.
Kohli recently broke Mohammad Azharuddin’s record of 156 catches.
Three more catches will see him break Ricky Ponting’s record (160) in ODI cricket.
